"Willie Nelson is a legend. I was privileged to be asked to produce a poster for his Aug. 1st, 2002 show in Houston, Texas. I wanted to do something which reflected my feelings about Willie. He's not really a 'person' to me. He's more like this ancient 'force of nature'. Its as if his body is this 'shell' that's just housing this ancient force of music and folklore. I painted his eyes in shadows: eyes relay 'personality' ...and I didn't want to do this here. Again, the Willie in this painting is not a 'person'. He's almost an 'idea'. "
