The seated figure on the left comes straight from the studio sitting: fur-collared coat, centre-parted hair, chin propped on one hand, the other resting on a cane. Morrissey takes the chair beside him.
“After” is the old gallery word for a work made in open conversation with another. It is a lineage, not a shortcut.
