◇ After

Raw Power Live · Iggy and the Stooges, 2011

The Stooges playing Raw Power front to back, decades after the record. This poster is for the Post Pop Depression tour. Same body, older, still doing it.

“After” is the old gallery word for a work made in open conversation with another. It is a lineage, not a shortcut.

A True legend of rock and roll, Iggy Pop and his heavyweight all-star band is rolling across the country for the 'Post Pop Depression' tour. Jermaine was commissioned by Iggy and the band to create the print for the Chicago date.

About this exercise, Jermaine comments:

'I have to say, it was an ultimate honor to be among a handful of artists asked to create artwork for the master that is Iggy. I could get all verbose here and drop all sorts of honorific titles and such, but it really wouldn't be enough. Iggy IS rock and roll...and everything it entails. Godfather of punk. Fearless performer. Influence and muse. Partner and collaborator with David Bowie. Penman and performer of one of my top-10-favorite rock-and-roll songs of all time ('Death Trip')...I could go on.

And just think: all of this, plus J. Ho, Dean, and Matt onstage. If you are out in the wasteland and this monster is coming through your town, do yourself a favor: pay the fare, go inside, and let Iggy do whatever he wants to do to you.'
