The head fills the sheet dead frontal, a blotchy high-contrast copy of a photograph: black hair centre-parted past the shoulders, forked beard, eyes lowered, a thorn breaking the outline at the temple. Left untouched, recaptioned in red, VICTIM OF POLICE BRUTALITY.
“After” is the old gallery word for a work made in open conversation with another. It is a lineage, not a shortcut.
